Hajj 2027 from Morocco: Calendar, Cost and Every Step

The Hajj 1448 AH / 2027 season is now in its preparation phase, and the news this month is concrete: the pilgrim training program has started. If you or a parent are among the selected pilgrims, here is the full verified calendar and what remains to do.

The cost: 65,000 dirhams, provisionally

The Royal Pilgrimage Commission fixed the official-circuit fee at 65,000 DH per pilgrim, on a provisional basis. The final figure is settled later and may be revised up or down, with the difference refunded or claimed. Pilgrims traveling through licensed travel agencies pay that agency's own price.

Payments are made in a single installment at Al Barid Bank branches, by certified cheque or electronic means.

Who got a place

The rules protect fair access and vulnerable pilgrims:

  • 18+ years old, and no Hajj in the last ten years
  • Elderly pilgrims must travel with a companion: a relative under 50, in good physical condition, able to assist through the rites in Mecca and Medina
  • Two distinct lists - the ministry's official circuit and the travel-agency circuit - with separate draws

The medical step - do not skip it

Every selected pilgrim must pass the required medical examinations and obtain a certificate of physical and mental fitness to perform the rites. That certificate goes to the Interior Ministry's services to obtain the official selection attestation - without it, payment alone does not secure your place.

What the October training program covers

The sessions, held periodically in designated mosques in each province, prepare pilgrims on three tracks:

  1. Religious - the rites of Hajj step by step, according to the Maliki practice Morocco follows, plus the prophetic etiquettes
  2. Administrative - documents, travel formalities, what to expect from the Moroccan mission in Saudi Arabia
  3. Health - physical preparation, chronic-medication management, heat and crowd safety

Attending is strongly advised, especially for first-time pilgrims - and it is the practical fulfillment of the Prophetic guidance: "Take your rites from me".

Preparing spiritually and financially

For those planning ahead (including for the 2028 season), the Prophetic recommendation is to prepare early: settle debts, seek forgiveness from family and neighbors, and learn the rites before departure. Our Hajj preparation guide covers the spiritual checklist that applies every season - and the prayer times page keeps your worship anchored at home before you leave.

With the Moroccan mission: what to expect on the ground

Morocco sends an official mission to accompany its pilgrims every season. In practice it provides: religious guidance teams (Moroccan scholars and guides present at the holy sites), medical units and pharmacy support, accommodation and transport coordination between Mecca and Medina, and a lost-documents help desk. Your provincial training sessions in October introduce the same structure - keep the mission's contact card when it is distributed.

Physical preparation matters more than most pilgrims expect:

  • Start walking now - the rites involve several kilometers a day (Tawaf, Sa'i, the movement between Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah)
  • Carry your prescriptions in their original boxes, with a written list in Arabic if possible
  • Plan for heat - even outside summer, Saudi daytime temperatures dehydrate quickly
  • Keep documents duplicated - passport, visa, selection attestation, and the mission's card, in separate places
